WHY WE CURATED IT:
An extra special version of these popular Octas that we can’t seem to hunt down fast enough to meet demand. This case variant is the one that’s longer than wide, with wider hooded crab claw lugs, feuille hands, cabochon-ed crown and sapphire crystal. And in case it’s not immediately apparent, this one has an ultra rare mother-of-pearl dial! Yes, we’re using the R word because it’s totally justified. Straight on, it’s easy to mistake it as a warm white dial. But at an angle, greens, aquas, pinks, purples and blues make their cameo appearance! The last time we had an MOP Octa (last year) it was a steel case, whereas this one is gold-plated. Sumptuous! And in this condition, with near-perfect original Longines strap and buckle, AND the Longines box, this is one collector-grade piece you don’t want to miss!
CONDITION:
9.5/10, with minimal hairlines. MOP dial, printing, hands, crown cabochon and crystal are pristine. Original Longines peccary strap and buckle in similarly excellent condition. Caseback has crisp engravings. Movement excellent with above-spec power reserve, strong amplitude, low beat error and accuracy within ±5 secs/day averaged from 6 timegrapher positions.
