WHY WE CURATED IT:
The De Ville line holds a special place in Omega’s history. Originally a sub-collection within the Seamaster range, it diverged into a standalone line by 1967, offering a refined diversification from the brand’s increasingly sport-oriented catalog. Over time, it even became the chosen platform for key technical milestones, such as Omega’s first co-axial escapement and first anti-magnetic central tourbillon. This particular example is a slightly larger “Ellipse” for those with bigger watch preferences and equipped with contemporary niceties like a sapphire crystal, automatic movement with hacking seconds and quickset date. The stepped bezel and beefy angular lugs impart a masculine on-wrist presence. We would put this firmly in the daily/casual camp, much more so than dressy as is the usual assumption for ellipse-shaped watches. Serviced, with warranty.
CONDITION:
9/10, with very few signs of use beyond the expected hairlines and a few teeny tiny nicks. Crystal, dial, hands, indices and printing are pristine. Original signed crown. Brand new aftermarket strap and buckle. Original Omega patented tuck buckle is included. Movement is serviced, with 6 months mechanical warranty and in good health with good power reserve, low beat error, and accurate to ±30 secs/day averaged from 6 timegrapher positions.
