WHY WE CURATED IT:
Piaget’s Protocole was its 1963 showcase of elegant ultra-thin mechanical watchmaking, securing its place in not just haute joaillerie but haute horlogerie too. Its legacy persists today in the form of ultra-thin Altiplanos, but it was really the Protocole that started it all. And rightfully, vintage examples have seen a sharp resurgence in recent years. Here we have a more evolved iteration from the 80s, featuring rounded edges, exchanging the angularity of earlier cuts for a smooth, refined silhouette. Powered by an improved version of the original ultra-thin manual-winding calibre. Encased in 18K white gold (with 18K white gold buckle) and featuring an onyx stone dial with four diamonds at the cardinal positions. Absolutely exquisite on the wrist, and oozing effortless style and luxury. Très chic! Perhaps my favourite from this drop.
CONDITION:
9.5/10 with few signs of wear. Deep black onyx dial and faceted dauphine hands pristine. Sapphire crystal has one teeny tiny mark which presents as a mere speck of dust. Clear engravings and hallmarks throughout. Original Piaget strap is worn but usable, but we’ll include a new aftermarket one as well. Movement has received a light “clean and lube” and performing well with strong power reserve, healthy amplitude, low beat error and accurate to ±15 secs/day averaged from 6 timegrapher positions.
