WHY WE CURATED IT:
Vintage UG really is a gift that keeps on giving. Once a high-end enthusiast brand with in-house movements, decimated by the Quartz Revolution, but recently bought by Breitling and on the cusp of resurrection. Beyond collector favourites like Polerouters and Tri-Compax, there’s a treasure trove of elegant time-only pieces to be discovered at astounding value. Like this manual extra-plat specimen (French for ultra-thin, not platinum sorry) with a wide open vertically-brushed dial that dances between silver and grey depending on the angle. 31mm but wears like 33/34 due to prominent lugs and big dial. Lots of details to love, from the masculine flat-topped lugs (reminds me of vintage Grand Seiko), to the combo of printed/applied indices, and surprising underside shapes reminiscent of cornes de vache cases. Oh, and did I mention astounding value?
CONDITION:
8.5/10, with visible signs of use. Case has fine, honest wabi-sabi hairlines. Crystal and dial are clean except for microscopic specks apparent only under magnification. Applied cardinal markers have small age spots, mostly visible only at 6 and 9. Caseback with clear, deep reference/serial engravings. Brand new aftermarket strap and buckle. Movement in very good health, accurate to ±30 secs/day averaged from 5 timegrapher positions.
