Universal Genève “Lapis” White Shadow Small Ref. 842606 (circa late 1960s)

WHY WE CURATED IT:
A too-cute-for-its-own-good small version of the revered UG White Shadow designed by Gerald Genta (renowned for the Polerouter, Royal Oak and Nautilus). This line encompassed a variety of case shapes, including this classic cushion case. Ultra-thin, evocative of the 60s, and with the star of the show… a lacquered dial in the style of vibrant lapis lazuli stone. Followers will know our love for UG. Once a high-end brand, crushed by the quartz era, but on the verge of revival under Breitling. Beyond hyped models like Polerouters/Tri-Compax are gorgeous, dressy treasures like this, waiting to be discovered at amazing value. Absolutely exquisite on female/small wrists and oozing the charm of the 60s design zeitgeist.

CONDITION:
9/10 with very small signs of honest use but little to no signs of polishing. Sharp lines and finishing transitions throughout. Original signed crown. Microscopic hairlines on the crystal but not discernible in normal use. Hands and markers have tiny age spots. Dial is clean with some very subtle spidering consistent with age, and a lot less than normal for this vintage. Caseback engravings deep and crisp. Matched with a barely used aftermarket strap and buckle, with the original UG buckle included. Movement running well with to-spec power reserve, fair amplitude, very low beat error and accurate to ±5 secs/day averaged from 6 timegrapher positions.
