WHY WE CURATED IT:
Amongst Tanks, it’s the non-classic versions that capture the attention of seasoned enthusiasts. The Obus ranks up there along with variants like the Basculante, Asymmetrique, Chinoise and Normale, but benefits from being even less-seen than those. Named Obus, after the French word for “bullet” and reflected in the unique shape of the lugs. The case is square solid 18K gold, with classic Cartier dial elements and blued Breguet hands. It’s not often we see an Obus, and even less so in a full set (not just box and papers) and in such frankly amazing condition. Every bit recognisable as a Cartier on your wrist, and possibly even registering as a Tank, but the IYKYK crowd will appreciate how special this is. Exquisitely beautiful and let us say right now that we’re jealous of its next owner. Priced at one of the lowest anywhere, especially in this condition and completeness. Our easy favourite of the drop!
CONDITION:
9.5/10, with hardly any signs of use. No signs of any refinishing. Crystal, hands, original cream Swiss-only dial, cabochon are all pristine. Caseback engravings and hallmarks deep and crisp. Original Cartier strap and Cartier 18K buckle are used but like-new. Portugal-registered papers and the rest of the set are equally well kept (except for the tatty outer cardboard sleeve). Movement healthy and quartz-accurate.
