WHY WE CURATED IT: A redux of the De Ville “Ellipse” we had in our very first drop just 10 weeks ago (feels like a lifetime now). In that same case shape and same flat stepped bezel. But slightly bigger this time with lugs set closer together and housing a quartz movement with built-in travel function that’s perfect for crossing timezones. No need to cycle the minute hand to adjust the hour and then recalibrating against another time source. Just quickset to the local hour and go. A very fetching configuration with slim applied faceted baton indices, skinny black pencil hands and a vertically brushed golden dial. Minimalist, elegant, versatile.
CONDITION: 8.5/10, with minimal signs of use. Case and lugs are sharp and crisp. Hands are clean, as is the crystal (with just a few microscopic marks visible only under a loupe). The dial has a little bit of aging around the periphery and a few of the indices have slight oxidisation but again you’d struggle to see them without magnification. New aftermarket strap and buckle. Movement is healthy, functioning perfectly and quartz-accurate.
