WHY WE CURATED IT:
The De Ville line holds a special place in Omega history. Originally a sub-collection within Seamasters, it diverged into a standalone line by 1967, offering more refinement vs the brand’s increasingly sport-oriented catalogue. Over time, it even became the platform for many Omega firsts, such as their first co-axial escapement and first anti-magnetic central tourbillon. Amongst dressier De Villes, we love these thin, manual-winding “Ellipses” equipped with the 2.5mm thick Cal. 625 (amongst the thinnest Omega calibres ever). Here we have a lovely gold-plated example with a vertically-brushed champagne dial and mildly domed box crystal. Very elegant and sculptural on the wrist and an Omega classic beyond the usual suspects.
CONDITION:
8.5/10, with some small hairlines. Original Omega-signed crystal is clean to the naked eye. Dial has two tiny nicks at 7:30 and 4:15 near the edge and barely noticeable but otherwise clean. 4 o’clock index has a tiny nick, probably 0.5 x 0.5mm or less. Hands are pristine. Original signed crown. Caseback has some stickers remaining (can be removed upon request). New aftermarket strap and buckle. Movement in very good health, with above-spec power reserve, strong amplitude, low beat error and accurate to ±20 secs/day averaged from 6 timegrapher positions.
