Omega De Ville “Two Tone Squircle” Grey Dial Ref. 191.0174 (circa 1982)
Omega De Ville “Two Tone Squircle” Grey Dial Ref. 191.0174 (circa 1982)
WHY WE CURATED IT:
A demure “squircle” watch that’s all about details. Fine vertical-brushed silver dial with subtle grey undertones (presents as grey at most angles). Text and applied indices are gilt, as are the hands which are frosted on one side and polished on the other. There’s no crown (just a single pusher), both an Omega statement on accuracy and lack of need for frequent adjustment, and a nod to elegant minimalism. My fav detail is the thin double-stepped bezel, with one narrow step in steel. How subtle a two-tone execution is that! A lovely, seldom-seen variation that wears surprisingly modern, perhaps due to the grey/gold combo, dauphine hands, and relatively wide strap.
CONDITION:
9/10, with hardly visible signs of use. Crystal is clean except for a tiny scrape near the 6 o’clock edge. Indices and hands in excellent condition. Dial has minor age spots and some barely discernible shadowing around the 3 o’clock marker. Fine hairlines on the caseback with clear calibre ID engravings. Brand new aftermarket strap and buckle. Movement in excellent health and is quartz-accurate.
