WHY WE CURATED IT:
A very avant-garde UG with not just the hooded, hinged, reversible, crab claw lugs we’ve come to love, but also a horizontally-oriented oval case. With a blue sunburst dial that’s dynamic and hints at mauve in certain light. Golden appliqué logo, cardinal indices and hands work in concert with the gilt dial text and plated gold case for a rich, sumptuous presentation. Shaped watches are so typical of the 60s and 70s and as relevant as ever today. Followers know our love for UG. Once a high-end brand, crushed by the quartz era, but on the verge of revival under Breitling. Beyond hyped models like Polerouters/Tri-Compax are uncommon, dressy treasures like this, waiting to be discovered at amazing value.
CONDITION:
9.5/10 with minimal shallow hairlines, mostly on the lug hoods underneath. Appears unpolished with intact and crisp case lines, bevels and facets. Original signed crown. Crystal, dial, hands and markers are pristine. Caseback engravings crisp and deep under the protective sticker. Used aftermarket strap in great shape with plenty of life remaining, fitted with the original UG buckle. Movement in very good condition with strong power reserve and amplitude, low beat error and accurate to ±10 secs/day averaged from 6 timegrapher positions.
