Universal Genève “Silver Square” Convertible Lugs Ref. 811627 (Circa 1960s)

WHY WE CURATED IT:
An absolutely beautiful UG with not just the hooded, hinged, reversible, crab claw lugs we’ve come to love, but also a rounded square case shape and an exquisite deep black index-less dial with applied UG logo. Truly an exceptionally elegant and versatile piece but we must warn you that onlookers may harass you to find out more about it lol. Interestingly shaped watches are so typical of the 60s and 70s and as relevant as ever today. Followers know our love for UG. Once a high-end brand, crushed by the quartz era, but on the verge of revival under Breitling. Beyond hyped models like Polerouters/Tri-Compax are uncommon, dressy treasures like this, waiting to be discovered at amazing value. Serviced and warrantied.

CONDITION:
9.5/10 with minimal shallow hairlines. All case lines, bevels and facets remain crisp. Quite likely unpolished. Original signed crown. Crystal, dial, hands and markers are clean. Caseback engravings crisp and deep. New aftermarket strap and buckle, with original UG buckle included. Movement serviced with 6-month warranty, in very good condition with near-spec power reserve, good amplitude, low beat error and accurate to ±10 secs/day averaged from 6 timegrapher positions.
