WHY WE CURATED IT:
It’s hard not to love a Cartier Baignoire once you’ve had an encounter in real life. Perhaps the most adorable watch in all of Cartier’s catalog, past or present. Only when handling and seeing its sculptural form in three dimensions does the magic truly set in. A wrist accessory that tells the time, rather than a watch as a wrist accessory. Not so much a small watch as it is a unique wrist experience. No wonder Baignoires are all the rage now, with even confident male celebrities and action heroes sporting them. Such is the power of this watch to shatter long-held preconceived judgment. Fun fact: It’s often said that Baignoires are shaped after bathtubs (literal French translation) but this is wrong. Cartier themselves attribute it to VIP “baignoire” seating at the opera. This here is a very collectible vintage Mini in solid 18k gold (including the buckle), egg-shell dial, and without a crown (vs. modern ones) further driving home what this watch is truly about. With its original Cartier box.
CONDITION:
9/10, with only slight signs of use and gold patina. Crystal, hands, dial all pristine. Strap and original Cartier 18k buckle used, but in great condition. Movement healthy and quartz-accurate.
