WHY WE CURATED IT:
With the return to small watches, the “wrist accessory > watch” subculture, and just how impossibly enchanting these are in the metal, Baignoires are the most pivotal corner of today’s Cartier mania. These Baignoires (named after opera VIP “baignoire” seating, not the literal translation “bathtubs” as is often mistaken), are perhaps the most natural overlap between wrist accessory and timepiece. Luxurious, unfussy, confident. Neither too loud to be crass, nor too subtle to be missed. Trés Cartier! No wonder style icons and celebrities (both male and female) are rocking them. “Just right” in proportion, form and detail. Also the model family with a direct evolutionary line to pinnacle Cartier: the Crash. Here we have a killer Small Model (SM) in solid gold. Larger than the Mini from our previous drop; better showcasing the curved eggshell dial and intriguing sculptural union of case and crystal, with better legibility and a handy time-setting crown. Perfect if you prefer a slightly bigger Baignoire. In superb condition with a Cartier deployant, original box and literature. My personal favourite of this drop.
CONDITION:
9.5/10, with scant signs of use. Crystal, hands, original Swiss-only dial pristine. Caseback engravings and hallmarks deep and crisp. Original Cartier strap and Cartier deployant used, but in good condition. Movement healthy and quartz-accurate.
