WHY WE CURATED IT:
Cartier’s relationship with panthers goes back 111 years to 1913; their recurring source of inspiration symbolising grace, power and beauty for strong women of society. It is believed Louis Cartier called his lover Jeanne Toussant (later creative director as well) his “petite pantheré”. Pantheres started with one watch, and later became a line of jewellery, before coming back as watches in 1983 (for men and women), and continues today as both watches and jewellery. The Panthere Ruban (“ribbon”) here is one of only two shape variations ever on regular Pantheres. A marked divergence, and far less common, retaining only the slinky, cat-like suppleness of a multi-link bracelet. Wears like a jewellery cuff with incredible light play. Setting is via pushbutton on the caseback, negating the need for a crown that would interrupt the lines of this watch. This particular example comes with a stunning blue mother-of-pearl dial, box and papers, and was serviced in Nov 2024 by Cartier with a 2-year international warranty.
CONDITION:
9.5/10, barely any signs of use. Crystal and dial are pristine. Hands are brand new service items. Movement freshly serviced by Cartier, is quartz-accurate, and warrantied by Cartier.
