WHY WE CURATED IT:
We’ve had several Longines Octagons before, in different sizes, dials, lug styles and aspect ratios. They’ve been very popular on account of their beauty, elegance and affordability. In this drop alone, we have two for you to choose from. Both are the later versions with a case that’s longer than it is wide, with crab claw/rear-hooded lugs, feuille hands, cabochon-ed crown and broader strap. Also, as it’s a later iteration of the Octagons, you get the bonus of a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. The dial variant is the lacquered black gilt with Roman numerals. This one’s the larger version; see our other listing for the exact-match small version. Both available individually or together as a couples set.
CONDITION:
8.5/10, with some hairlines and slight wear-down of the plating in the corners at 2 and 4 o’clock. Lacquered dial, gilt printing, hands, crown cabochon and crystal are pristine. Longines buckle is like-new and fitted to a new aftermarket strap. Caseback has crisp engravings. Movement healthy with to-spec power reserve, strong amplitude, low beat error and accuracy within ±15 secs/day averaged from 5 timegrapher positions.
