WHY WE CURATED IT:
Next-level Longines Octagon collectability! This piece was from our own @chrono.path who researched it extensively and we'd be remiss not to share the findings. Firstly, it’s not called Sympathie obviously (Longines confirms it’s from the “Vogue” collection). Sympathie is a recent nickname stemming from similarities to Roger Dubuis’ Sympathie watch cases. And no, it’s not likely he designed it while working at Longines, as some claim. He was there not as a designer, but as a young after-sales employee in the 50s. By the 60s, he had left for Patek. These Longines were from the 70s so the timeline speaks for itself. They’re therefore not homages of Sympathies either (released 20 years later in the 90s). More likely the other way around, as Dubuis often drew inspiration from past influences. Perhaps the most beautiful Longines ever and highly sought after. In stellar condition, with many extras. Not to be missed!
CONDITION:
9/10 with minor hairlines. Dial and spade hands clean. Crystal has one tiny hairline. Clear caseback serial engraving. Aftermarket straps/buckle virtually new. Original Longines strap used. Hairlines on original Longines buckle. Caseback shows service in May 2024, movement health excellent with to-spec power reserve, high amplitude, low beat error, ±10 secs/day averaged from 5 timegrapher positions.
