WHY WE CURATED IT:
Finally found a ver.1 Dynamic without date. Perfect symmetry is worth waiting for! This sporty watch spanned over 30 size/dial/calibre variations and was a huge success in the future-looking 60s and funky 70s. Not just an interesting shape, these watches were marketed as the most comfortable in the world with improved ergonomics by rotating the watch to horizontal (from straddling wrist bone to avoiding it); an innovative one-piece strap that sits IN the case (who needs lugs?); and perforated straps that aerate the wrist. This example has the automatic Cal. 552 in stellar condition. Shaped, as current trends favour, yet brimming with vintage vibes. In a taupe, grey, white and orange colourway that’s so late 60s/early 70s!
CONDITION:
8.5/10, with visible signs of use. No signs of refinishing, just a little weathered by half a century, not a polishing machine. Original Omega-signed crystal in great shape with just a few microscopic marks. Crown may have been replaced but is Omega-signed. Dial, hands and printing are pristine with intact tritium lume plots that respond to UV correctly for age. New aftermarket strap and buckle with worn strap and original Omega buckle included. Movement in excellent health with near-spec power reserve, strong amplitude, negligible beat error, and accurate to ±10 secs/day averaged from 6 timegrapher positions.
