WHY WE CURATED IT:
Gerald Genta famously designed the Royal Oak, Nautilus and Polerouter. But his work included other course-altering gems like this. When Omega needed a clear direction to start the 80s, Genta was enlisted. This was a landmark for head-turning design and materials innovation, evolving into the “pre-Bond” SMP 200M and beyond. Features an integrated bracelet and 2mm thick 18k gold inlay, so seamlessly fused into the steel case it’s downright sorcery. How Omega did this remains a secret to this day. This is our 3rd Polaris, in the sublime-wearing 32mm (wears like a 35) ultra-thin version. Combining analog hands and a subtle digital display (can even be turned off when not needed) with a plethora of functions that calls to question the need for multiple watches. Think time read two ways, a second timezone, chronograph, countdown timer, alarm and perpetual calendar. A characterful, functional and versatile sports watch. What more does one need?
CONDITION:
7.5/10; visible signs of use on a likely unpolished case. Crystal is 99% clean with a few microscopic specks. Dial is pristine, tritium lume plots intact, respond to UV correctly for age, with nice warm patina. Hands may have been replaced during a previous service. Caseback has deep, crisp engravings. Bracelet has a tiny bit of stretch. Movement is quartz-accurate with full working functionality.
